چکیده

A survey of plant parasitic nematodes associated with Zea mays in Kashmir valley was conducted from June 2006 to November 2006 which yielded a number of Tylenchids. Among them, the species Tylenchorhynchus zeae Sethi and G. Swarp, 1968, Pratylenchus sativus kaul, 1985, Aphelenchoides srinagrensisKaul, 1985 are reported herein, with dimensions. The parasites are being recorded for the first time from this region of world and on Zea mays, thus forming new host and area record. Nematode population in soil reached its peak in June-July and declined gradually from July to August. May, June and July is found to be most favourable for their multiplication in Kashmir valley.

Nematodes associated with Zea mays and their control through organic soil amendments

On a survey during the period of 2006-2007 a number of tylenchids were found associated with Zea mays in Kashmir valley such as Pratylenchus sativus kaul, 1985, Aphelenchoides srinagrensis Kaul, 1985 and Tylenchorhynchus zeae Sethi and G. Swarp, 1968. These species were found to have morphometric variations probably due to habitat alteration from the originally described ones. As a part of the ...

Control of Larval Northern Corn Rootworm. (Diabrotica barberi) with Two Steinernematid Nematode Species.

The entomogenous nematodes Steinerema feltiae and S. bibionis did not penetrate the roots of corn, Zea mays, to infect larval northern corn rootworm (NCR), Diabrotica barberi, feeding within. Laboratory bioassays against first instar NCR indicated that S. feltiae, Mexican strain (LD = 49 nematodes/insect) is more virulent than S. bibionis (LD = 100). Numbers of NCR larvae in a grain corn crop w...

Effects of form and level of orthophosphate on growth, uptake and distribution of some elements in maize (Zea mays L.cv.ksc700). Soraya Fattahpour, Kamaladdin Dilmaghani and Hassan Hekmat Shoar*

In this study, the plants of maize (Zea mays L.cv.ksc700) were grown in Hoagland solution containing 1, 3 and 5 mM KH2PO4 or K2HPO4 under controlled conditions. At similar levels of mono and diphosphate, plants supplied with monophosphate have produced higher content of dry matter and characterized with higher total chlorophyll content and longer and well proliferated root system than those tre...
